Check the box of whichever items you would like to renew, and then click “Renew Selected Items.” You will then get a page that comes up telling you your items were renewed with your new due date. Click “OK.” Be sure to logout after you are done. You will be unable to renew items if they are on hold for another library patron if they are overdue or if you owe a fine.
RETURNS
Bookdrops are located both inside and outside the library for all returns, including books, audiobooks, DVDS and BLURAYS. Any item borrowed from any Moore County Library location must be returned to the same location that it was checked out. Items from other libraries may not be returned to any Moore County Library. If any item is returned that does not belong to Moore County Libraries, we will mail the item back to the owning library and bill your account for the postage. Any method of return is acceptable, so long as no charges or other responsibilities are incurred by Moore County Libraries.
OVERDUES AND LOST ITEMS
One (1) Week overdue – patrons will receive a phone call or email from the library notifying them that they have overdue items and that once their items are two (2) weeks overdue patrons will receive a postcard that states if items are not brought back to the library and all fines paid to the library within seven (7) days from the date of the postcard then the items will be considered lost and patron’s account will be sent to collection which may result in either criminal or civil charges being filed against the patron. If items are returned, patrons will only owe overdue fines instead of replacement cost. After three (3) months we will replace the item and will not accept the item back. Lost items must be replaced or paid for before a patron can checkout additional items.
FINES
Patrons who owe over $2.00 will not be able to checkout or use public access computers.
The fine for books and audiobooks is fifteen (.15¢) cents per day late fee per book or audiobook. The maximum fine for books and audiobooks is $5.00. The fine for DVDS and BLURAYS is $2.00 per day per DVD or BLURAY. The maximum fine for DVDS and BLURAYS is $10.00. Audiobooks, DVDS and BLURAYS must be returned in their cases with inserts. DAMAGED ITEMS
Items returned with water or liquid damage, animal or child damage, torn pages, broken spines, or excessive dirt damage will be charged a replacement fee. Damaged items must be replaced or paid for before a patron can checkout additional items.
When an item is returned damaged to the library, the patron will receive a phone call from the library. The library will also mail the patron a letter notifying them of the damaged item, the amount that has been charged to patron’s account and patron’s option to bring in a new copy of the item or pay the cost of the replacement item within seven (7) days from the date of the letter. If at the end of the seven (7) days, the patron has not taken care of their account the library will turn the patron’s account over to collection which may result in either criminal or civil charges being filed against patron. After three (3) months we will replace the item and will not accept a replacement item. Lost items must be replaced or paid for before a patron can checkout additional items.
PLEASE BE ADVISED
Your library card can only be used by you. It is your responsibility to keep up with your borrowed items and return them by the date due.
After any item borrowed from the library has failed to be returned for a period of four (4) weeks past the due date, and all attempts to contact you have been made, the item is considered assumed lost or stolen. Your account will be turned over to collection which may result in either criminal or civil charges being filed against the patron.
Please make us aware of any address or phone number changes so that we can contact you about your items.
